Season Education (MVP)

Background:
Season Health had a mission of “food as medicine.” We wanted to help people eat better to feel better. We started with a focus on diabetes because it is a condition that is directly affected by how people eat, and their progress can be measured through metrics such as an A1C level.

Opportunities:
Teach people about their condition to help them manage it in their day-to-day lives. Create an additional channel to engage with our platform.

Scope:
Leading the initiative of building an MVP education experience. Collaborating closely with engineering. Delegating and prioritizing. Working through updates and iterations.

Impact:
  • ~70% of platform users engaging with platform through the MVP
  • A customer and her daughter shared that they had significant decreases in their A1C levels after learning to reduce soda in their diet from the education platform.

Reflections:
This process sharpened my ability to prioritize. We had a big vision for what the education at Season would look like; a lot of excitement and ideas. I wanted more, but this taught me the benefit of compromise. Compromise used to feel like conceding—in some ways that can still be true. This initiative was a lesson on how to spend the right amount of effort for the best amount of impact.
